What Austria Can Learn From the Reform of Municipal Structures in Estonia
Shownotes
In the latest episode of the KDZ podcast, Siegfried Fritz talks to Karin Närep about the background, successes and takeaways of the municipal reform in Estonia. Karin Närep worked at the Ministry of Finance at the time of the municipal reform and can report directly on the effects on cities and municipalities, as she actually works in a municipality that was created from 11 former municipalities. Find out how Estonia reduced the number of municipalities from 213 to 79 between 2016 and 2017, why the number of inhabitants was an important basis for Estonian municipalities and how social guarantees for top municipal staff influenced the reform.
